About Me: Who Am I?

No, I’m not referring to the Jean Valjean anthem from Les Miserables.

I wanted to write a post to share a little about myself for those who don’t know me yet. I started to write it like a Q&A, then it got longer and longer, so it seemed like a good idea to split it up over multiple posts rather than one megapost.

I’ll share one bit every now and then. First up is an introduction to me.

I’m a California native who has ping-ponged back and forth a few times to other states. Born and raised in northern California, I went to San Diego for college and enjoyed it so much that I stayed in the area a few more years. (By the way, if you’re ever close to the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego, go to Adalberto’s and get the rolled tacos and the carne asada chips. You won’t regret it!)

Then I tried Oregon, and while I loved the beautiful greenery and enjoyed my time there, it didn’t feel like home. After two years, I made plans to move back to California, this time to Burbank.

While preparing for the move, I met my now husband, who was already living in the area. We married and started our family there before moving to Washington state, where he grew up, so I could be home with our toddler. We added one more child to the mix and spent ten years in beautiful western Washington, very close to Tacoma (Federal Way, if you know where that is!). And yes, it rains frequently, but it’s often a light rain that helps to keep everything so green and lovely.

Changes in my husband’s employment brought us back to Southern California once more (Burbank again!), and we’ve been happily living here since 2016. We share our home with three cats and our two mostly grown sons. Besides writing, I love to read (obviously!), bake goodies and make treats, and work in the wildlife garden I planted when we moved to our current house in 2022. I also have never met a writing research rabbit hole that I haven’t fallen down.

If you ever have a question you’d like to ask, please feel free to comment on a post or to send me an email by clicking on the little envelope at the upper right. I’d be happy to answer!
